Ancient coins reveal a glimpse into Rome's tumultuous past. This coin, minted in 137 BC, features a helmeted bust of Mars to the right with an X symbol behind it. On the reverse side, a young boy kneels leftward while looking upward at his head, grasping a pig tightly in his hands. Two soldiers stand on either side - one touches the pig with his sword, while the other places his hand gently on the youth's shoulder. The Crawford catalog number is 234/1.
