Thumbwheel Keeper for Maker Select and possibly other Prusa I3 clones
thingiverse
The Maker Select and other I3 clones reportedly struggle with their beds shifting out of level. Initially, I was planning to purchase additional nuts as jam nuts, but then came up with an alternative solution. This new approach securely grips the thumbwheel and aligns against the edge of the base plate. Six months have passed since installation, and my bed has remained perfectly level. The accompanying STL file contains a mirrored pair; printing two identical units is necessary for proper function. Due to the cramped space between the thumbwheel and the bed guide mounting plate on the Maker Select, these designs are positioned to grip mostly towards the outside of the printer, avoiding interference with the plate. Consequently, the long "tail" should protrude away from the end plates. Inverting this orientation could cause the tail to collide with the end plate, restricting movement. As thumbwheels for clones may differ in size, users will likely need to adjust these parts through scaling to ensure a precise fit on their respective wheels.
