Thumbscrew for Phillips Flat Head Machine Screw, M5-0.8 x 40mm
thingiverse
Having trouble finding the perfect screws to replace your GoPro thumbscrews? I hit a snag with stainless steel machine screws M5-0.8 x 40mm on Amazon - they were too large at the head for use, so I took a step back and created my own custom design from scratch. The 25mm model mirrors the OEM thumb screw, while the 29mm option provides more length without needing a different screw. You'll also find 123D source files in the zip package. Find the replacement screws on Amazon here (a pack of 25 currently costs $5.45): http://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Machine-Finish-Phillips-Threads/dp/B000FN7X3O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413227279&sr=8-1&keywords=phillips+flat+head+machine+screw+5mm+40mm Instructions: To create your new thumbscrews, start by measuring the OEM item. Design your screws using Autodesk 123D and then print them on a Maker's Tool Works Fusematic with an ABS filament layer height of 0.15. Don't forget to include a raft in your print settings for optimal results. If the screws are slightly loose, apply a drop of hot glue to secure them firmly in place.
