Thule Fairing Adapter

Thule Fairing Adapter

The file has two sets: one short for the outside and one long for the inside, requiring only two runs or alternatively running through Slic3r to multiply it. After purchasing a vintage fairing for my modern Aerobar kit on my VW, I inquired with Thule about a conversion kit to bridge the gap, but unfortunately, they did not have any available options. Thus, I took matters into my own hands and measured and printed them myself. Some modifications are still necessary (I'm currently using zip-ties and Velcro to hold mine together, with plans to replace the white ties with black ones soon), yet on a printer with superior resolution and infill, one could possibly add screw holes to give this a more polished appearance. To date, I have taken it for a spin down the road at 80mph (the legal speed limit here in the Midwest) and while it did vibrate slightly, it otherwise held together remarkably well. The clip-side requires a reduction of approximately 2mm, although with my current printer, I would face difficulties producing such a precise lift due to its inherent limitations with the standoffs it uses. This project remains a work in progress (I will provide an update once I acquire a new printer capable of producing better quality than my M3D).
