Thule EasyFold XT2 Bike Carrier Tail Lights
thingiverse
The issue with using bike carriers is the tail lights of the car tend to be obscured from view when the bikes are loaded. Not only can it get you a ticket, but you run the risk of getting hit if the vehicle behind you doesn't see that you're braking. Even the $600 Thule EasyFold XT2 bike carrier has the same flaw. It did come with two reflectors, which are not suitable alternatives to lights. I carefully took apart the bike carrier, and saw that the reflector can be peeled away, exposing a mounting screw for the bracket. I 3D printed housings that perfectly fit the LED tail lights I purchased on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PKBZGCR/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=2manytoyz-20&linkId=7a23d0fef4194ea585c35b697556f2c5&language=en_US These housing can be put on just about any bike carrier, the method of mounting will obviously change, but could even use tie wraps if needed.
