Thug Frames FooFighter - Prop Guards (65mm)

I was looking for a way to tame the FooFighter for indoor use, so I created these guards using OpenSCAD. The script can be adapted for any true X frame size by making a few adjustments to the variables. This design is printed flat with minimal support material required, only the outer ring needs support where it connects to the next ring. The multi-part construction helps distribute the layers in a direction that gives strength to the entire assembly. Additionally, this design allows any damaged or broken part to be swapped out without replacing the entire guard. The joints are profiled for easy assembly and can be secured with a small drop of super glue. The guards then connect to each other using M2 screws or 1.75mm filament as a rivet. I printed these guards in NinjaTek Armadillo 75D TPU, which I highly recommend trying out. It offers excellent rigidity while still having some flexibility, making it less brittle than harder plastics. However, I would not suggest printing with 95-98A TPU as it may be too flexible; instead, consider using PETG for a more durable finish. The attached STLs are designed for 65mm props with a prop line at approximately 17mm from the base plate and a few mm clearance above the props. Each guard weighs 5g, and with M2 screws included, a full set weighs 22g. If you're interested in obtaining the OpenSCAD file or would like me to upload STLs for different sizes/specifications, please leave a comment.
