Thrustmaster Warthog joystick support ring
thingiverse
Some users have suffered severe damage to their Warthog joystick: the neck of the stick has snapped off. In another video, a user proposed using lego bricks to shift some of the pressure from the stick to its base. Improving on this idea, I came up with a 3D-printable support ring that can be assembled by plugging two pieces together. However, in practice, I'm unsure whether a 3D printed part will make sufficient contact to achieve its purpose effectively, reducing wear of joystick's neck. Although it fits well, the surfaces on the device where the ring attaches are not perfectly flat. As a result, the ring may not transfer much load or pressure off the joystick's neck during normal use. Nevertheless, it might help prevent catastrophic failure of the joystick's neck due to excessive force in one direction. I decided to share my 3D design with others in case they can benefit from it and/or make further improvements at their own risk.
