Thank You!I’ve been listening to Thrice for close to twenty years now. It’s amazing how the band’s sound has evolved over the years. I really like the album artwork on their album Palms. It was designed by Jordan Butcher from Studio Workhorse.More info on Thrice- https://thrice.net/music/More info on Studio Workhorse- https://studioworkhorse.com/I thought it would be cool to make a 3D version of the album cover to mount on the wall. To achieve the painted look I used a mixture of convex and concave surfaces so the printed layer lines would act like “brush strokes” giving the 3D piece varying texture and depth.Parts, Settings & Materials I Used:Palms_Background_Black – 1 needed, 15% infill, .2mm layer resolution, MatterHackers PRO PLA Black.Palms_Outline_Tan – 1 needed, .2mm Layer resolution, PushPlastic Desert TanPalms_Circles_Tan – 6 needed, 15% infill, .2mm Layer resolution, PushPlastic Desert TanPalms_Circles_Grey – 6 needed, 15% infill, .2mm Layer resolution, PushPlastic Dark GreyPalms_Circle_Red – 1 needed, 15% infill, .15mm Layer resolution, Solutech Real RedBefore printing, dial in your first layer settings. If your first layer is too squished you may have trouble inserting all the circles. It helps to check / clean up the bottom edges before inserting the circles and the outline into the background. Let the parts cool before removing them off the build plate. You can also play around with the layer resolution to change how much texture the surfaces will have.Assembly:Install the Tan Circles first, then the Grey Circles, then the Tan Outline, and finally the center Red Circle. There are two built-in mounting points on the back so you can mount this to a wall.Share a picture if you print one!
