The University of Tübingen's Zoological Collection boasts a model of the Proechidna bruijnii, or Three-toed Echidna, native to New Guinea. Endemic to this region, these animals thrive in forest ecosystems and can also be spotted in high-altitude areas, reaching elevations of up to 4000 meters above sea level. As primarily nocturnal creatures, they live solitary lives outside of the mating season, with a diet centered around earthworms. To gather their food, they utilize their long, sticky tongues equipped with small bars, allowing for efficient collection.
