Three Pence Coin

The 1942 English brass three pence coin showcases King George VI's portrait (father of Elizabeth II), inscribed with "GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN:REX F: D: IND: IMP" (meaning "George VI, by the grace of god King of all Britain, Defender of the Faith, and Emperor of India"). The 12-sided coin measures 21 mm across its sides and is 2.5 mm thick. Its reverse side features a thrift plant with three flower heads, symbolizing the encouragement of saving during that time. Though not legal tender, this coin's STL file, 'Three_pence.stl', is approximately three times larger than the original coin. Capturing the two sides of the coin, photographs were taken outside on a bright overcast day to avoid visible shadows using a Canon G9 camera. These images were then digitized with 123D Catch. The coin halves were subsequently combined together in openSCAD. Printed on a Replicator, the process took approximately 80 minutes, with settings of 5% infill and 3 shells, directly on the build platform.
