Threaded Spool Hub

Threaded Spool Hub

thingiverse

I created the threads using this design from Thingiverse: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:193647. I prefer keeping these hubs on my spools for easy filament switching and they fit most of the spools I use, including cardboard ones. For very narrow spools, you may need to trim some threads by cutting a portion off the top of the bolt using 3D Builder or other software or simply stopping the print. The bearings look great whether needed or not, so I usually buy extras or salvage them from roller blades. Print Settings: Printer: p802M Rafts: No Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: .24 Infill: I used 15% Notes: Printed with a .24mm layer height and 15% infill, with or without support. If you print in ABS, use support as it doesn't bridge as well as PLA. Post-Printing: You can clear the center for an 8mm or 5/16 pin, rod, or dowel using a drill or reamer. Snap in two 608 bearings for a free-wheeling spool or don't clear out the inner diameter for some resistance. I designed this model using Thingiverse's thread design and SketchUp for the rest. I'd like to thank Mike_Mattala for NUT JOB | Nut, Bolt, Washer, and Threaded Rod Factory.
