Threaded Rod Delete

Threaded Rod Delete

thingiverse

This mod removes the constraint at the top of the threaded rod on a Hictop Prusa i3, shifting the wobble away from the x-axis carriage. It's a superior solution to adding a bearing at the top of the rod, which would force the wobble towards the carriage and cause striations in the print. The comparison is clear: the left part was printed with the modified rod delete, while the right part was printed using the stock setup. Identical layer heights and print settings were used, along with no adjustments to the printer whatsoever, making this a fair test. The part is designed to fit snugly but doesn't require any filing. Simply remove the acrylic piece on the printer and attach this one in its place. If necessary, you can even place the mod on a flat surface, remove the smooth rod, and gently tap it through, as long as you're careful not to bend the rod.
