A threaded bushing, alternatively referred to as a threaded insert, is an integral part of a fastener that's inserted into an object for creating a threaded hole. These inserts are useful for fixing stripped holes, creating durable threaded holes in soft materials, applying threads on thin materials unable to accommodate them, molding or casting threads directly onto the workpiece, and simplifying conversion between unified and metric threads.
