I created this setup for better control over inserting 3mm threaded inserts without relying on a soldering iron. A 40mm x 3mm screw passes through it with an inset nut to keep it in place. The other two nuts have Loctite applied and are tightened together securely. Adding a small washer between the threaded insert and nut prevents overinsertion. Heating is accomplished using a hot air gun. After several minutes of heating, the threaded insert retains enough heat to be easily pushed into PLA, PETG, or ABS materials.
