Threaded End for Paint Roller or Broom Handle
thingiverse
A Replacement Threaded End for Paint Roller Extensions and Broom Handles. This threaded end is designed to fit a hollow pipe with an inner diameter of approximately 0.8 inches or 20.4 millimeters. If your pole's diameter differs, the source code is included to accommodate it. It fits my paint rollers, brooms, mop, and duster perfectly, with no play in the threads once tightened securely. One of my paint roller extension poles suffered a broken threaded end (the yellow part shown in the image). I created a replacement based on measurements from five other extension poles/handles, including those for paint rollers, brooms, mops, and dusters. The diameters ranged between 17.5mm and 18.5mm, with thread pitches of either approximately 4.75 millimeters (3/16 inch) or 5 millimeters depending on the handle. The threads used are M18x5. This design allows for one flat side to print laying down without supports, providing strength. However, this feature can be disabled in the source code if needed. This project utilizes Dan Kirshner's excellent GPLv3 licensed OpenSCAD-Threads library, available at http://dkprojects.net/openscad-threads/threads.scad .
