Threaded Counterweight for 3D Balancing
thingiverse
This is a small counterweight used to help in 3D balancing a telescope. The basic version is used with the ADM balancing system and the threaded version matches the 1/2" x 13 tpi threads currently used. If that works then all that is needed is to print the STL files. If another thread size is needed or the existing version is too loose or too tight then use the included thread segment and modify the XY size but do not adjust the Z as that would change the tpi value. The other alternative is to use a different thread segment and combine (subtract) it from the "blank" version of the file. Threaded rods of various sizes can be found on Thingiverse. For the filler material I use 4 large 3/4" washers as these just slip over the central post and provide ~200 grams of total weight. However anything may be used to fill the interior, such as lead shot or BB's.
