Threaded beer tap handle inserts

I was frustrated with being unable to locate the correct threaded insert parts for my beer tap handles. I know that brass ones are readily available, but why not print them instead? I have included two models, the only difference is the exterior dimension of the inserts, while the internal threads remain the same. The metric insert measures 18mm x 20mm and the imperial insert measures 3/4" x 3/4". To get a better view of the threads, use Thingiview to flip the model around. These threaded inserts can be remixed in your own tap handle designs for printing. They are designed with proper clearances for a filament printer that uses the 3/8"-16 thread commonly found on tap handles. You can also drill a hole in the bottom of a non-printed handle you have made and use this as a threaded insert. I have even included a STEP file so you can import it into your CAD software, allowing you to eliminate, add or modify anything you like. Before adding this to your model, do a test print of just the insert to ensure that it fits correctly. Then, modify it if necessary and add it to your CAD model. This could prevent some wasted print time on a complete tap handle if your print settings differ too greatly from mine. To get started, take a look at the handle design in the picture, which is available for download here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1473817 The following print settings were used to create the threaded insert: * Printer Brand: MakerGear * Printer Model: M2 * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: .20-.25mm * Infill: 20-30% * Notes: Three perimeters would be best. You may need to rescale this to get a perfect fit from your printer. Directly from my printer, it prints smoothly and locks snug as is. The picture of the threaded insert by itself is a draft quality print at .25mm resolution. A slower print speed with .20mm resolution will give you better threads.
