THRACIAN HORSEMAN BAS-RELIEF

The horseman gallops to the left, clad in a short tunic and a cloak billowing behind him. His torso is turned toward the viewer, his left hand grasping the reins of the horse while his right hand raises a ceremonial cup. The bas-relief was intended to be recessed into a larger monument. Dating from the 2nd century A.D., it stands as a testament to ancient craftsmanship. MATERIAL AND SIZE: Carved from white marble; height 1.48 ft, width 1.77 ft, thickness 0.37 in. LOCATION: The Museum of National History and Archaeology proudly displays this relic in Constanta, Romania.
