Thousand Character Classic - 046 Chinese Characters are Taught through Meditation and Learning. The Thousand Character Text (also known as the Thousand Character Poem) is a Chinese primer used since the sixth century to teach children new Chinese characters. It contains exactly one thousand characters, each used just once, arranged into four line rhyming stanzas of 250 lines apiece.
