The head emerging from a block of stone is modelled after Camille Claudel, Rodin's studio assistant and lover who was also his protégé. Originally titled Thought Emerging from Matter, this work highlights artists' inner visions that guide their creative process. It was scanned during the 'Rodin and the Art of Ancient Greece' exhibition at The British Museum in London (April 26th - July 29th, 2018). Hailing from the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, where it remains on permanent display.
