The small turquoise faience statue (inventory no. 13) stands at approximately 4.5 cm in height, dating back to the Late Period, roughly spanning from 664-332 B.C. The statue vividly depicts Thoth as a baboon in a squatting position, grasping a Wedjat-eye above its knees - a powerful symbol of protection. Suspended at the rear is a hook, hinting that this object was likely worn as an amulet. As a multifaceted god, Thoth is deeply connected to various aspects of Egyptian culture, embodying the realms of nature, cosmology, writing, science, and medicine. The ibis and baboon are revered as Thoth's sacred animals.
