Thorn Puller sculpture at British Museum

myminifactory

This Roman marble sculpture is permanently on display at the British Museum, a reworking of an original bronze piece known as "Fedele" or "Spinario". The original sculpture, built in the 1st Century AD, is displayed at Rome's Museo del Palazzo dei Conservatori and this version is likely the best surviving copy to its original. Small holes at the base suggest it was used as a figure in a fountain. Constructed under Hellenistic style, attention to detail is evident in the thorn and rock where he sits, immaculately detailed and paying homage to rustic countryside. This object is part of "Scan The World", a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory.
