The 25mm construction rails, similar to those offered by ThorLabs (available on their website as a .step file), have been reproduced here using SketchUp and dimensions provided on the same site. These sturdy rails can accept M6 nuts along their faces to create larger structures, while multiple rails can be connected with rods for even greater lengths. The printed model was surprisingly strong, possibly due to its 2 perimeter and 40% infill settings; a hollow design with 3 perimeters might yield similar strength and print time. This particular rail measures 9cm in height but can be extended using SketchUp's push/pull tool on the top face. Longer rails can also be achieved by combining several of these prints and connecting them with 4x4mm diameter rods in corner holes.
