Tired of the outrageous prices people were charging for vintage Thorens headshells, I decided to take matters into my own hands and build one myself. It's now working flawlessly with my trusty Thorens TD-165 as a spare cartridge. A video showcasing its construction and details will be posted soon, once I've had the chance to finalize it. Special thanks go out to Jacques, who sparked this idea in me and went on to create a fully functional prototype that's both impressive and usable. To save time, I leveraged his clever mounting bullet and side panel designs, allowing me to focus on other aspects of the project. The rest of the headshell was painstakingly recreated by tracing an original from multiple angles and piecing it together with precision. While I did need to make some minor adjustments to accommodate material differences and my own limitations as a relatively new 3D modeling enthusiast, the end result is remarkably accurate. Any suggestions for improvement are more than welcome – I'm eager to hear your ideas. The electrical side of things will be covered in a future update; until then, feel free to reach out via private message if you have any questions or would like more information.
