Thor & Jörmungand -The battle of the foggy night
sketchfab
Hi this is my entry for the Edithor Challenge. I made a major change to the water's opacity mode, switching it to refractive, which really adds depth to the scene. I also gave the serpent's eyes some serious menace with green emissive details. And let me tell you, subsurface scattering on the sail of the ship is pure magic. Where I did most of my tweaking was in postfilters – I added basically all of them and fine-tuned each one until they were just right. But if I had to pick a single game-changer, it's tone mapping with reduced contrast for that eerie fog effect. It makes everything feel really ominous and foreboding. My goal was to make the monster look like it means business, so I focused on three main elements: the serpent, the ship, and Thor himself. I wanted them to be the stars of the show. For lighting, I went all out with spotlights on the serpent's mouth, the ship, and Thor – it really helps them stand out from the rest of the scene. And to balance everything out, I made sure the other elements faded into the background, blending in with the grey tones.
