Thor Costume
thingiverse
This is a Thor Costume that I designed myself, and it's one of my first projects as a young 3D designer. At 14 years old in 9th grade, I've just started exploring the world of 3D designing and printing, but I'm already hooked. Over the past 15 days, I've learned everything from scratch, teaching myself how to use the software and designing this epic costume. My school provided me with the filament and 3D printer needed to bring my design to life. I created a full Thor armor piece and a twelve-piece split Thor armor set that can be assembled together. To print the split armor, you'll need to glue all the pieces together carefully. Before printing, make sure to adjust the pieces to fit your body perfectly. You're free to choose any filament color you like. **Print Settings** * Printer Brand: MakerBot * Printer: MakerBot Replicator * Rafts: Yes * Supports: Yes * Resolution: 0.25 mm * Infill: 20% **Notes**: Be sure to glue the twelve-piece split Thor armor set together carefully after printing. **Post-Printing** Be careful when removing the raft and supports from your printed costume. Take your time, and you'll be rewarded with an amazing piece of 3D design. **How I Designed This** I started by designing my costume from scratch, using my imagination to bring Thor's iconic armor to life. It was a challenging but rewarding project that taught me not only how to design 3D objects but also how to learn and adapt on my own. This experience has ignited a passion for 3D designing and printing in me, and I'm excited to continue exploring this field. **Standards** This project aligns with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) framework, which emphasizes hands-on learning and experimentation. **Overview and Background** My costume took a lot of time and effort to design and print. Over 15 days, I worked on it for about three hours each day, pouring my heart into creating something truly amazing. By doing so, I've learned not only how to design a cool-looking costume but also how to tackle complex projects. **Lesson Plan and Activity** My goal was to create a superhero costume that would amaze people. When I thought of Thor's iconic armor, I knew it had to be my project. With a clear vision in mind, I worked tirelessly to bring it to life. My activity was short but precise, and as a first-time designer, I'm proud of the result. **Materials Needed** To print this costume, you'll need any filament color you prefer and a compatible 3D printer that can handle my design. **Skills Learned** * 3D designing * 3D printing **Duration of Lesson** This project took me 15 days to complete, with each day dedicated to learning and perfecting my craft. **References** I'd like to thank my school for providing me with the materials I needed to bring this costume to life. Their support has been invaluable in helping me develop my skills as a young designer.
