Thonet Garden Ornament

Mark 3 of the Thonet Garden Ornament has been created following revisions made to the initial design. The previous versions (Mark 1 and 2) featured a complete chair with unnecessary legs. However, the client, artist, and designer agreed that only the armrest and backrest were needed, to be fixed directly on top of a tree stump. The unique concept behind this design is that the chair and tree stump will degrade over time, harmoniously returning to nature. As such, the chair is made from plain steel that will rust. The fixing method was also redesigned to ensure user safety. With these changes in place, production of the parts can now commence.
