Thomas Gent, a renowned 18th-century printer from York, left behind a lasting legacy in the printing world. The remnants of a press he allegedly used are now meticulously preserved at the Scarborough Museums Trust. As part of the pioneering Thin Ice Press Project spearheaded by the Department of English and Related Literature, preliminary digital restoration work was undertaken to bring the fragments back to life.
