<p>Finches, titmice, and wrens can all enjoy some thistle seed from this simple bird feeder print.</p> <p>Three files provided - the full model, then the two different slicing files for Prusa Slicer. The design for the tube is just an embossed cylinder - designed to be printed in Vase mode in a clear PETG of your choice for best see-through results. The lid should be printed in something opaque, also PETG for weather resistance.</p> <p>Update: depending on the size of your seed, you may want to cut off the embossed slot on the side (the seed slot). Very small thistle seed would pour out if the starting hole was too big, so I left this as an adjustment for you. I got a bag of Niger seed on Amazon and it was too big for the starting holes - so I cut out the outward sticking vertical bump on both sides so the birds can reach the seed.</p> <p>Once filled with seed, the birds will figure it out. They can hang onto the bottom of the tube in the embossed circles, and will take seed that is poking out of the little holes around the embossed | characters.</p> <h3>Print instructions</h3><p>Print the tube as a vase mode print in clear PETG. Clear lets you see how much seed is left. The embossing when printed in vase mode will leave openings for the seed to come through - it won't pour out, don't worry. Designed for thistle seed only - as that is a very small seed.</p> <p>Print the lid separately - as a 3mm draft. Try without support or with support. You may need to do some trimming on the tube-fit tabs to fit the holes you cut in the slots at the top of the tube.</p> <p>Use a razor to cut the embossed tabs at the top of the tube. These are intended to be sliced off. The matching tabs on the lid will go through these to hold the lid on once you fill it with seed.</p> <p>The convenient loop allows you to take some string and hang the feeder. If you are afraid the lid will slip off, just use a small rubber band to reinforce the lid fitting.</p>
