Hello to everybody. After watching a woman with crutches and supermarket bags, I thought what a small device attached to the crutches could do to carry bags. This device would prevent crutches from falling to the floor if they are placed on a flat surface or in the back of a chair. And why not add some strong neodymium magnets and a lantern holder to make the combo gadget? The magnets could hold house keys, tools, perhaps smartphones, and all ferromagnetic items. The lantern is about 27 mm in diameter, approximately, and may require a little sanding for easy operation, but that's minor. The hooks at the top allow carrying two supermarket bags (3 Kg max. each...). I have not tested the maximum weight allowed before breakage, but I suppose it would be higher than an average user's force. I experimented better results with PLA vs ABS. This device was designed for crutches made of aluminum tubes 22 mm in diameter; if other diameters are more convenient, contact me through messages. The device is fixed under the hand support by clicking into the crutch tube body, requiring a small amount of force but firm. A little WD-40 or similar lubricant oil improves operation. After clicking, a small hole (2 mm) is needed in the tube body to attach a small washer and metal screw to hold the device firmly to the aluminum tube. This may be the most challenging part, but only a small drill hole (2 mm), washer, and screw are required. This is a work in progress; at this moment, only left-hand crutches gadgets have been made, but soon the right hand will follow. I would be very happy to see your ideas, suggestions, or improvements for better performance of this small device.
