ThinkPad vertical stand

Most of the other stands available out there are slightly tilted, whereas I wanted something that could hold my ThinkPad straight up with ease. The "skeleton" design is meant to reduce material usage while increasing strength, allowing for a sturdy and reliable stand. I included the Fusion 360 source file to make it easier for you to modify or remix this design as you see fit. **Feel free to post suggestions for improvements in the comments - I am open to adding revisions and making adjustments.** # Fit and resizing I designed it around the dimensions of my ThinkPad 460s, but it should fit other ThinkPad models as well (I also successfully tested a ThinkPad Yoga). My 460s measures about 14.5mm thick at the spot where it rests in the stands. If yours is more or less than 14.5mm at the same location, you'll need to resize the model. There are two ways to go about resizing this design. First, you can edit the model using the Fusion 360 file that's attached. The second and easier way would be to simply scale the model in your slicer. For example, if your laptop is 13mm thick, then scaling the model to 89.67% should work fine (14.5mm x 89.67% = 13mm). *TIP*: If you want to test the fit, you can print a smaller version by dropping the model 20mm or so below the print surface in your slicer. #PRINT SETTINGS Make sure to print it on its side for maximum strength. I printed it with PETG using the settings below and it's extremely strong. Weaker materials like PLA would also be plenty strong. * Layer height: 0.32mm * Walls: 4 layers, top and bottom: 1 layer each * Infill: 10% (even 0% should be fine) Infill isn't important because the model is designed to take advantage of walls for strength. A smaller layer height will work just as well, but you might want to increase the number of layers on the top and bottom. #LICENSING If you want to print and sell these stands, I hope you make a million dollars! If you want to remix this design, please pay it forward by including the source file for your remix just as I did here.
