ThinkFun Balloon Adapter
thingiverse
This is my entry to the ThinkFun challenge 2015. A customizable air-powered system for ThinkFun machines. I built off the ThinkFun philosophy of creating specialized vehicles that move and/or lift things, taking it a step further by incorporating balloons as a source of power. The machine can now travel on land or take flight with this upgrade. Designed to complement the ThinkFun Maker Studio Hub Cap, it fits perfectly into either connector slot. Inspecting the cross-section view reveals a tapered nozzle internal geometry from balloon end. This thoughtful design choice minimizes support material needs during printing and saves valuable time afterwards. Print Settings Rafts: No rafts needed. Supports: Not required. Resolution: Between 0.15 and 0.4 resolution settings will suffice. Infill: Choose infill between 20% to 60%. Notes: It is essential to print the balloon end towards the surface. UPDATE 17th October, I printed a part with a friend's reprap and it clicks seamlessly into ThinkFun parts, while keeping the balloon safely in place thanks to the barb and neck connection. I may create more air-powered ThinkFun vehicles and experiment with an 'L' adapter for versatile orientation options.
