We built a tugboat that's off to set #2 now! First, take a rubber band and stretch it between two metal prongs on either side of a mysterious object labeled X. Next, carefully wind the X towards our newly crafted boat until it reaches the point of no return. This 3D printed marvel was conjured up during an after school makerspace session by 5-7 graders who dared to dream big. Their ingenuity shines through in every detail of this amazing project. Here's a behind-the-scenes look at how it all came together: As I designed the ThingiBoat, I wanted something truly epic. I drew inspiration from the great vessels that sailed the seven seas – only instead of sails and ropes, mine would be powered by a rubber band and a makeshift engine. First, I sketched out a rough outline of my boat – it looked a bit like a miniature casket with two thin metal rods protruding from either side. Then came the challenge: how could I get this contraption to move? After some brainstorming (and many, many reams of paper), I came up with an ingenious solution – use a rubber band as both the power source and a means of towing it behind our trusty old tow truck!
