Thing9
thingiverse
This text depicts a tower-like object with leg-like support, seemingly crawling through a wall hole. The printing process was challenging in the transition area between the trunk and top due to drooping PLA issues that could be rectified by increased airflow. Thing9Top was printed separately for experimentation purposes and its dimensions are provided. The printer (RapMan 3.0) faced two interesting hindsight-obvious issues: height affected airflow, with lower heights receiving better cooling; and fan positioning caused uneven cooling on different sides of the print, resulting in perfect "spokes" on one side and drooping ones on the other. These factors are significant for those using a fan during printing, and the author humorously adds that it's easier to blame the printer than the 3D model.
