Thing of holding
prusaprinters

A tool I designed and 3d-printed to help myself, friends, and my kids to paint or hold anything. With a little putty, glue, or tape anything can be attached to the caps and manipulated easily.

Updated:
-New Handle_v2 has smaller filet for easier printing
-Update to rubber band holder, ClipRBandAnchor, for easier printing and better support of clip walls,
-New twist lock. Only need to print 1 ThreadedTwistLock and as many ModelAttachBase as needed. (See printing notes)

Print Settings

Printer:

Anycubic Delta

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.25

Infill:

0-20

Notes:

Each part is different. The small RubberBandAnchor might need to be rotated to print well on some printers. Most parts can be printed hollow to save material but if they are the threads will print better if the shells/perimeters are then increased.

Custom Section

Twist Lock Feature

I found it was taking far too long to print enough bases to hold an army for painting and I also needed more functionality. Now only print one of the ThreadedTwistLock.stl and loosely screw it to the top.
Print as many of the ModelAttachBase.stl as needed, for instance I usually paint a group of 4-8 at one time so the mixing is more consistent in color. These attach to the model with the same tack putty or glue and then drop into the TwistLock and one tightens down the threaded part to lock the base down. Loosen and lift the ModelAttachBase to get it out and pop the next one in.

I recommend using the latest version of CURA to get access to the Gradual Infill Steps. Set the Infill to 30%, Gradual Infill Steps to 2, and Top Thickness (only) to 0. This creates a thick mesh on top but allow for more advanced painting of pinned models that would be in wire instead of large bases.

Category: Art Tools
