The Makerbot Thing-O-Matic's Z axis limit switch mount enables self-teaching of the HBP height. To use it, follow these instructions. First, plot the limit switch block and lay it on its largest flat side. Position the limit switch assembly on the thin flange with the trigger leaf extending below the edge nearest the mounting screw holes. Fasten the assembly using 2 M2 x 12mm screws and nuts. Next, mount the limit switch block, aligning it with the plotting nozzle as you look across the HBP surface, touching the corner at the X-Y home position. Drill two 2 mm dia holes and secure the block to the Z axis assembly with 2 M2 x 25mm screws and nuts. Adjust the limit switch vertically for triggering before the nozzle contacts the HBP surface. Connect the new Z axis limit switch cable to the limit switch assembly and route it down to connect to the Z axis home location on the motherboard. Code modifications are also necessary. In the Start Code, add the specified lines between the designated comments. Finally, run a test part and adjust the nozzle-to-platform offset in the G1 Z0.4 line to ensure accurate calibration.
