Thing-O-Matic Hood kit
thingiverse
This ToM replicator hood kit, inspired by my previous design, helps retain heat while preventing drafts that could spoil prints. It features a central gap for air circulation and filament movement. The hood's height of 6 inches accommodates various extruders. Each corner has a 1-inch hole for attaching accessories such as filament brushes or guides. If you don't have access to a laser cutter, reach out, and we'll find a solution. To assemble the hood, attach the "hood back" to the "hood sides" using four M3 12mm bolts and nuts. Next, affix the "hood top" panels with another set of four M3 12mm bolts and nuts, leaving a central gap. Finally, secure the "hood front" panel with six M3 12mm bolts and nuts. The hood rests on top with a lip to prevent sliding. The four corner holes are for custom 3D objects or mounting options. For side panel assembly, use four M4 12mm nuts and bolts along with eight #8 washers to secure the side and back panels together. If your ToM has a left-side fan port, attach the fan cover using four M4 nuts and bolts. To replace the front panel, remove the existing four bolts from the ToM's front. Place a spacer and then the new front clip before securing with four M3 22mm nuts and bolts. The front panel slides behind the front clips and rests on the existing wood squares. If needed, provide details on the required acrylic sheets, hardware, and laser cutter specifications for this project.
