thingiverse

Makerbot is set to release a stepper-driven MK6 extruder on the 4th axis of the Thing-O-Matic soon, allowing for precise control over your stepper motor. By staying ahead of the curve and getting in now, you can avoid common issues some users have faced with the Thing-O-Matic's extruder controller motor port. To take advantage of this bleeding-edge development, ensure you use the latest RepG and firmware. You'll need a stepper motor, stepper controller (version 3.3 for direct attachment to A Axis), a 606 bearing in addition to the one already in your MK5 plastic pusher, a #6 bolt (40mm, but 50mm can be used), washers and nuts, the plastic-pushing gear from your existing MK5, miscellaneous M3 hardware, and a special cable for CupCake 2.3 controllers. Ensure you adjust your RepG profile accordingly. Once set up, you'll be part of the cutting-edge future with your new stepper-driven extruder.
