Thin Object Support Design Example
thingiverse
This technique may still hold value for others despite originating from a project that did not pan out. Tall, slender objects are prone to becoming disordered or even colliding with the nozzle due to warping and vibration. A method was devised to introduce stability and prevent such mishaps. Small tabs were added mid-way up the model. When support is enabled in the slicer, these tabs create additional contact points with the bed, thereby stabilizing the print. In this example, there is only one level of tabs, but for extremely tall and thin prints, multiple levels could be incorporated as needed to ensure steadiness throughout its entire vertical span. It would be beneficial if a vertical support option like this were integrated into slicers.
