Thin-butted axe
sketchfab
This axe was unearthed in Hallberg parish, Närke. Thin-butted axes are predominantly linked to the Funnel Beaker Culture and date back from the early Neolithic period to Middle Neolithic A, around 3700-3200BC. The thin-butted axes were functioning tools used for cutting trees or other wooden components. These axes are commonly discovered in megalithic tombs or depositions. This artifact was meticulously polished on all sides, leaving only a few remnants of the initial knapping process. This axe also exhibits signs of being utilized extensively. A substantial flake of flint has chipped off at the edge of the bit during use. Another large flake has broken away from the opposite side of the bit, likely occurring when the axe was still embedded in the ground, due to ploughing or similar events. http://historiska.se/upptack-historien/object/1308310 3D scanning technology Xenter 3D technician Midori Åstrand
