ThiEye T5e Frame Case and Lens Hood

ThiEye T5e Frame Case and Lens Hood

thingiverse

Here is my ThiEye T5e frame case with added lens hood.\r\nI required a lightweight case that wouldn't add too much weight to my roadbike while also preventing fogging issues we all know from underwater cases. I wanted a lens hood, too, for better flare resistance and lens protection from the forces of nature. The frame case together with the lens hood plate wedges the camera in place so it can't fall out (tested on my roadbike and cobblestone roads). I hope this model will be useful for quadcopter use, too.\r\nAt the moment, the lens hood is still a tiny bit too long on the left and right sides. I'll take a closer look at this. \r\nAlso, the lens hood is only designed for 166˚ viewing mode without electronic stabilization. I might design lens hoods for super view, picture mode or EIS recording modes if there's any demand.\r\nI designed everything in Sketchup (needed to run it through Netfabb, though) and took various inspirations from frame cases and lens hoods already existing on Thingiverse for other action camera models. There was none for my ThiEye online yet, so after designing I wanted to share it with you guys.\r\n\r\nLet me know whether you like it and if you want to see some upgrades being made to it.\r\n\r\nPlanned updates/upgrades:\r\n- make my test models black (matte black spray paint)\r\n- design a lens cap\r\n- get the lens hood 100% right for 166˚ non-stabilized mode \r\n- add access to the microphone port\r\n- I might want to add access to the battery compartment, but I'm afraid that it would take away a lot of the rigidity and would be the weakest point prone to fracture if used for example on a bike.
