Thickness caliper with 0.5mm precision

This is a rapid 1-hour print of a fully functional thickness caliper, thanks to its 4:1 ratio it can measure within an accuracy of 0.5mm with reasonable precision. Use at least 50% or higher infill to ensure sufficient support inside - especially where the screw goes through the main body. You will need a small wood screw to hold the three pieces together securely in place. The screw is located on top, where the washer/nut is positioned. Make sure there is enough infill so you don't dislodge the post that you will screw into the main body. If it does happen, just use a longer screw that can reach deep into the main body. It was designed and carefully positioned to require no support at all during printing. Instead of trying to write directly onto the piece (which would be impossible to calibrate accurately), I created a decal that I cut and glued onto the piece. First assemble the caliper, inspect the nose for any uneven surface from printing. Use sandpaper to smooth out the surfaces of the measuring nose until they fit together tightly. Then print and cut the decal from paper using spray craft glue (they usually stick to everything). Position the zero mark where the needle is located. The decal is available in PDF format, sized for Letter paper. When printing, make sure there is no scaling at all.
