I tweaked the gear design to simplify printing, increasing its outer circumference just enough to hold each tooth securely together. Despite setting my slicer software to an astonishingly fine 0.1 millimeter layer thickness, with the automated extruder adjustment enabled in Slic3r, I still found myself wrestling with a mess of loose teeth that refused to bond properly together in the final printed model.
