Thespis of Icaria, born around 6th century BC, revolutionized theater by stepping out from behind masks and speaking as a character on stage for the very first time. According to Aristotle and other ancient Greek sources, Thespis introduced the concept of a principal actor, adding depth to the chorus in plays.
