Theseus fighting the Centaur Biénor
myminifactory
The legendary Greek warrior Theseus slew the fearsome centaur Biénor, a monstrous creature with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse, during a fierce battle against their neighboring rivals, the Lapiths. French sculptor Antoine Barye masterfully crafted a dynamic group depicting the intense struggle between the two combatants, highlighting the desperate resistance of the centaur in stark contrast to the calm composure of the hero. This magnificent sculpture was cast at the renowned foundry of Eugène Gonon, a Parisian institution established in 1814 and thriving until its closure in 1892.
