The starship Ulysses is the latest addition to the Odyssey-class exploratory vessels, a lineage of innovative spacecraft designed to push the boundaries of intergalactic exploration. Its revised mission, sparked by a diplomatic incident and the ominous threat of an imperialistic posthumanity, involves evading capture and embarking on a perilous journey across the galaxy in search of a solution to prevent catastrophic war. This is my entry for the Sketchfab Frontier Challenge, brought to life over the course of five days. I had been eager to create something like this for some time, as an experiment in crafting intricate details and conveying a sense of scale using minimal complex geometry. The challenge's theme proved to be the perfect creative catalyst. The design inspiration for Ulysses primarily stems from Voyager, the Normandy, and the Protector from Galaxy Quest, among other iconic spacecraft. However, I made a conscious effort to imbue it with its own unique identity, ensuring that it stands as a distinct design. I hope this differentiation is evident in the final product. Those who take the time to explore Ulysses may stumble upon hidden Easter eggs, adding an extra layer of depth and intrigue to the model.
