Thermometer / Hygrometer Stand

Thermometer / Hygrometer Stand

I bought these inexpensive thermometer/hygrometer combos a while back. They work fine, but the viewing angles on the screen are pretty bad. Even though they have a small kickstand on the battery door, the design of the device doesn't let it sit back on the kickstand in the best position to be sufficiently readable. For a while, I was using a piece of a toothpick to hold the kickstand out far enough so that it would sit correctly, but on browsing Thingiverse out of boredom one evening, I saw someone had made a stand for their hygrometer, and it inspired me to make my own. The device also has a magnet on the back, which was perfect to use as means of mounting it into the stand. It actually sits in the stand fine without the magnet, but it's much more secure with it, and can easily be moved around to other places as needed without the risk of falling out. The magnets I used are linked below - they're inexpensive metal-clad magnets 10mm in diameter and 2mm thick. This happens to be the same size magnet installed in the device as well (I did not plan this - I had the magnets on hand from a different project). Obviously a similarly sized piece of magnetic metal would work fine - I designed it with these magnets in mind, though, and even if you don't have any, I think you'd find them useful. The two square slots in the back are to allow the device's vents to access the air. It's not like the stand creates an airtight seal, but I figured adding the slots certainly wouldn't hurt the design, and may help keep measurements more accurate. Of course, not long after creating the complicated design that forms an enclosure around the whole device, I realized that, especially with the magnet, I could reduce the design down to something much simpler. Thus, I have included a minimalist design, if you want to use less plastic. It does hold the device without the magnet, but I recommend the magnet much more for the minimalistic design. I designed this entirely in Tinkercad.
