The Seebeck and Peltier effects are thermoelectric phenomena that occur when temperature differences cause voltage generation or absorption, respectively. The Seebeck effect, named after Thomas Johann Seebeck, is the production of an electric current due to a temperature gradient, while the Peltier effect, discovered by Jean Charles Athanase Peltier, involves the flow of electricity causing heating or cooling at different points in a conductor.
