This is the Thermoblade, a glowing knife from Subnautica that I carefully crafted in 7 precise pieces to achieve perfection. Here's how I brought it to life: I printed the knife body standing upright with a raft using White PLA material. Next, I printed the blade part horizontally on its side, utilizing Clear PLA for an LED-infused look or Red PLA as an alternative. The grip was then printed with support structures in place, crafted from Black PLA. To complete the design, I printed the left and right ring components separately before assembling them together using CA glue made from White PLA material. Finally, I printed the clear pieces and pressed-fit them onto the other ring, utilizing Clear PLA for an LED-lit effect or Red PLA as a substitute. This Thermoblade can be customized to include LED lighting or remain plain, depending on your preference. The LEDs used are 0805 SMD types soldered directly onto thin wires. A tiny ATTINY85 microcontroller serves as the brain behind the knife's breathing effect, a challenging feat considering the compact size and limited space available. If you prefer a hassle-free printing experience without the LED components, simply print the clear parts with Red PLA for a stunning appearance.
