Thermistor Prism

Thermistor Prism

thingiverse

A compact, three-dimensional prism composed of a 3x3 grid framework, specifically designed for mounting 27 thermistors on three distinct grids. By utilizing this setup, researchers can effectively study the flow of heat through a specific volume. To create this arrangement: Print three ThermoGrids and four or more ThermoGridSpacers. Use hot glue or super glue to construct a rectangular prism by combining the ThermoGridSpacers with the ThermoGrids as faces and an intermediate slice. Then, secure thermistors into the mounting holes built into the ThermoGrids using tape or glue. This will yield 27 temperature points that allow for data collection on heat flow through this volume. Recommended components include: A Raspberry Pi 2 or 3 paired with MCP3008 Analog to Digital Converters, and 100kOhm thermistors. Alternatively, Arduinos can be used in conjunction with 100kOhm thermistors.
